Terms of Use

By using Whetcode you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. If you are using Whetcode on behalf of a school or organization, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it.

Whetcode is a browser-based platform for learning to code. You read short lessons, type real code, and run it directly in your browser — there is nothing to download or install. Code you write in lessons and the playground executes locally in your browser, not on our servers.

All of Whetcode — every course, practice problem, system design question, and case study — is free to use until November 30, 2026. No payment details are collected during this period.

After the free period ends, continued access to some or all of Whetcode is expected to require a paid subscription. Prices, plans, and exactly which features remain free will be announced on the site before any charge is introduced. You will never be charged silently: using Whetcode during the free period does not create a subscription, and nothing converts into a paid plan without you explicitly signing up for one. Progress you earn during the free period stays attached to your account.

You can use Whetcode without an account: your progress is saved in your browser on your device. Signing in is optional — if you do, we use Supabase to authenticate you and to sync your progress across devices. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account.

When using Whetcode, you agree not to:

• break the law, or encourage anyone else to;
• probe, overload, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or other users’ accounts;
• scrape or bulk-download the learning content for redistribution;
• submit abusive, deceptive, or spammy content through our forms; or
• impersonate Whetcode or misrepresent your affiliation with us.

The Whetcode site — its lessons, exercises, design, and branding — belongs to us or our licensors. You may use it for personal learning, but you may not republish or resell it.

Your code is yours. Anything you write in the editor, the playground, or an exercise remains your property. We claim no ownership over it, and you are free to reuse it anywhere, for any purpose.

Whetcode is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted availability. We work hard on quality, but a free educational service cannot promise perfection.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Whetcode and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service — including losses caused by relying on content that turns out to be inaccurate, or by loss of progress data. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us to use Whetcode, which for a free service is zero.

Whetcode is actively developed: features may be added, changed, or removed at any time. We may also update these terms; when we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above, and material changes will be flagged on the site. Continuing to use Whetcode after an update means you accept the revised terms.

You can stop using Whetcode at any time, and you can delete your account data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access for accounts that violate these terms, and we may discontinue the service itself — though we would tell you first if we could.
